Thank you for writing this!!! I let both my kids (boy and girl) see me changing my menstrual cups and we talk openly about bleeding and all the things related and it feels important and liberating!
So beautiful. IG recently popped something beautiful into my feed that your comment reminds me of--about a girl who started her period for the first time at school and a boy in her class discreetly whispered to her that her pants were blood-stained and gave her his sweatshirt to tie around her waist for the bus ride home.
She was embarassed and hesitated to take his sweatshirt and he said something like "No. It's okay. I have sisters. I understand. Don't worry." The IG post ended the story asking how many conversations had to have happened at home for this 12 year boy to respond with this thoughtful, practical, compassion and care.
Thank you, Karna, for breaking the cycles you're breaking and having the conversations you're having at home, and modeling the body-freedom-and-empowerment you're modeling so there can be less embarrassed girls and more compassionate boys in the world.
